Hello loves! Welcome back.
This post is all about meditation and how you can use it in your spiritual practice. This can apply to any religion, it isn’t restricted to Wicca or even Eastern religions. There are many Christians who meditate as well.
Meditation is the practice of being mindful and being aware of yourself and your thoughts. Daily meditation has many health benefits, physically and mentally, and it is a necessary part of spiritual growth.
I’m not going to get too deep into the mechanics of meditation and how to start a practice because I do have a free email course which is all about meditation and how to get started if you are a complete beginner. You can sign up for the course below!
So without further adieu let’s jump into the post!

Even though this is not a step-by-step guide on how to meditate, I think it’s still important for you to know…
What is meditation?
Meditation is the practice of becoming aware or reaching a higher state of awareness. There are different ways to do this such as focusing on your breath, reciting mantras, chanting, walking or visualizing. The goal isn’t to shut your thoughts off or clear your mind, the goal is the not let your thoughts be so distracting that it is debilitating. It’s the act of gaining control of your mind.
When you master control of your mind there are so many doors that open up for you including improved spell work and rituals, astral travel and connection with your deities.
Meditation is a skill, and like any skill, all that’s needed is a will to learn and lots of practice!
How can I use meditation as a tool in my Wiccan/spiritual practice?
Meditation is necessary for any Wiccan.
Communion with the deities
Wiccans can use meditation to commune with the Goddess and God during rituals, while casting spells or in everyday life.
This is because when you meditate you are opening up your mind to your higher consciousness. You will eventually slip out of your conscious mind and into your subconscious, into a different plane.
I will usually meditate every morning when I wake up, every night before I go to sleep and before any ritual or magick.
When you meditate you are becoming more familiar with the part of you that is of the divine, of the Goddess and God. That is your direct line to them, and the more you use it the easier it will become to slip in to.
Raising energy for magick
To cast a spell successfully you must raise energy.
Meditation is a fantastic way to do this while also visualizing and focusing on your intention (we’ll get into magick next week! (: )
With many types of meditation you are focusing on something, magick is very similar.
To use meditation to raise energy you only need to visualize your need, your intent and see it coming to pass. This is the core of magick, seeing what you want and seeing it happen before it does.
In essence, every spell you do is a form of meditation depending on how you decide to do it.
Meditation will also improve your ability to keep up a visualization for longer periods of time. As you train your mind to still, your spell work will get better.
Awakening your psychic abilities
Contrary to popular belief, there are people out there who have amazing psychic abilities. However, we all are born with innate, psychic abilities but not all of us fully explore and awaken them.
There are people who have more of an affinity for certain abilities such as clairvoyance, the ability to see into the future, but we all have the potential.
Meditation is an excellent way to begin to awaken your own psychic abilities because it connects you to your subconscious which is where the psychic activity takes place.
Gaining insight into your current path
Wicca has so many moving parts sometimes it’s hard to keep up with it all.
If you have questions or you aren’t sure where to go next in your spiritual path I find it very beneficial to meditate on the question.
Don’t get me wrong, you aren’t searching for the answer, you’re listening. Listening to your thoughts, to your subconscious and figuring out what need on this journey.
Meditation is a great practice for introspection especially when it comes to your Wiccan or spiritual path.
You can even to this with divination.
If you have a particularly difficult spread on your hands that you’re unable to read it is helpful to meditate on the cards to give you more insight.
Connecting with crystals or other tools
You can also meditate with objects such as crystals, tarot cards or any tools you want to have a deeper connection with.
Personally, I believe the best way to connect with a new tarot deck is to meditate with each card individually so you can get a feel for them before you try to use them for a reading.
My favorite way to use crystals is to meditate with them.
For me, this is the fastest way I’m able to see the result with whatever properties the crystal I’m using exhibits.
I talk more about meditating with objects in my free email course Achieve Your Zen! You can sign up down below and start your daily meditation practice today!
How will I know if my meditation is working?
I’ll be honest, my first meditation session was awkward.
I couldn’t sit still. For some reason, I had a hard time keeping my eyes from fluttering. Everything started to itch and I was trying really hard not to scratch.
It was bad.
And once it was over I didn’t really feel all that different. I felt more relaxed but that’s about it. I didn’t have some big spiritual revelation with shining lights and visions of the future (though that would have been awesome!)
So I got worried that I did something wrong because clearly, my meditation didn’t work.
Don’t fall into this trap.
Everyone experiences things differently. If you don’t feel a huge change after your first meditation session, guess what? That’s totally okay.
Even if you don’t feel it you can rest assured that you have taken a step in gaining control over your mind.
That way I got past my first fear of ‘not knowing’ is keeping a meditation journal. After each of my meditation sessions, I wrote down how I felt about it and any thoughts or epiphanies I had.
Looking back on those journals it took around 2 weeks before I really started to feel the changes that were already taking place.
I recommend starting a meditation journal especially if you’re a beginner. It’s nice to look back on your progress and see how far you’ve come.
Also, keep in mind, it does get easier. I can tell a difference in myself and in my practice now that I’ve practiced for so long so there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
